Two Years of ISPIRA Think Tank – The Future Emerges Where We Have the Courage to Rethink

At a time when many companies still view sustainability transformation primarily as a compliance exercise, and regulatory uncertainty is often used as a reason to postpone necessary change, I have rarely felt more motivated than I do today. Working closely with my clients has shown me one thing very clearly: when sustainability, resilience and strategic procurement are considered together, companies not only gain transparency across complex supply chains but also unlock significant financial value.

The openness with which organisations share their challenges continues to inspire me to develop new models, templates and thought pieces—from sustainable procurement strategies and the Supply Chain Spend Cube to reflections such as “rethinking the economy as a garden rather than a machine” and framing the EmpCo Directive as an opportunity to systematically integrate fragmented sustainability requirements.

Futures Thinking forms the conceptual foundation of my work. Futures Literacy is the capability to explore different possible futures, navigate uncertainty constructively and collaboratively design responsible solutions. It includes imagination, critical thinking, empathy, self-efficacy and the courage to actively shape the future. This perspective also underpins my current project: the “CANVAS Unlearning Model for Entrepreneurial Sustainable Procurement”, designed to help companies challenge established mindsets and unlock new pathways for value creation.

My sincere thanks go to all the companies I have had the privilege to work with over the past two years. They demonstrate every day that sustainable transformation is not only possible, but that it creates measurable value by strengthening resilience, fostering innovation and enhancing long-term business success.
